Job summary

Google LLC in Singapore is seeking a Research Scientist to lead regional AI safety research and align frontier AI with robust, safe deployment. You will set foundational research agendas, collaborate with APAC academic institutions and government bodies, and publish findings to influence both policy and engineering practice.

You will bridge academic breakthroughs with engineering execution, coordinating external partnerships and mentoring visiting researchers while advancing scalable safety

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4 years of experience with research agendas across multiple teams or projects.
• Experience in machine learning, adversarial ML or evaluating frontier AI systems, incl. supervised/unsupervised RL, interpretability, robustness, safety, generative models, agentic AI, multi-objective optimization.
• One or more scientific publication submissions to conferences/journals or public repositories (CVPR/ICCV/NeurIPS/ICML/ICLR, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Lead regional AI safety research, defining and driving a foundational AI alignment agenda.
• Liaise with APAC academic institutions, government bodies, and external stakeholders.
• Integrate safety breakthroughs into core engineering frameworks and frontier AI models.
• Collaborate with regional and global teams on policy, regulation, and delivery.
• Publish findings, mentor researchers, and represent Google in regional forums.
