Job summary

Health Sciences Authority in Singapore seeks a Laboratory Officer for the Red Cell Reference Laboratory in the Blood Services Group, Patient Services Division. The role is rostered 12-hour shifts, including overnight, weekends and public holidays (8am–8pm, 8pm–8am).

Duties include performing tests per SOPs to ensure safe blood supply, preparing specialised components, and supporting transplant-related procedures.

Qualifications

Relevant academic qualifications in Science, Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent.
3–5 years working experience in an immunohaematology laboratory.
Knowledgeable about basic laboratory practices and safety requirements.
Good laboratory technical skills.
Comfortable with computer and using specialist laboratory software.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Willing to work 12-hour shifts including overnights, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

To perform all tests and processes in the assigned laboratory in BSG, within set SOPs, to ensure quality and safety of the national blood supply.
Prepare specialised blood components for patients with specific requirements.
Operate specialised laboratory procedures for transplant support services.
Provide support in the red cell reference laboratory for antibody investigations and ABO discrepancy resolution.
