Job summary

TikTok is seeking a PhD candidate to join our live streaming ML/engineering team in Singapore. You will work on real-time, high-performance distributed systems to optimize monetization, engagement, and global user experience. The role involves edge-case analysis, model development, and collaboration with product management.

As part of a cross-functional team, you will prototype, deploy and monitor ML-driven features, with opportunities for bold ideas and growth within a fast-paced tech company.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a PhD in CS or related engineering discipline.
• Familiar with C/C++/Python development; Linux multi-threaded/multi-process systems.
• Knowledge of ML/DL algorithms including boosting, DNNs, reinforcement learning.
• Strong math foundation: probability, statistics, numerical optimization.
• Experience with big data processing frameworks such as Flink, Spark, Hive.

Responsibilities

• Participate in optimizing ByteDance LIVE monetization and the LIVE experience for billions of users.
• Apply ML models to model user behavior and consumption data; build high-performance architecture services.
• Analyze user behavior patterns and provide optimization directions for the business.
