Job summary

PERSONNEL LINK JOBHUB PTE. LTD. in Singapore is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop concepts from customer requirements, create CAD models, and drive the design through prototype to production.

You will work with plastics, metals, and hybrids, apply GD&T and DFM, and collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing teams. The role runs Monday to Friday at Joo Koon, with a 13th-month scheme and a variable bonus.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering /Product Design Engineering / Mechatronics or related discipline.
• 3–8 years of relevant experience in Product Design, R&D, OEM/ODM, or product development environment.
• Good exposure in plastic, sheet metal, rubber/silicone, and hybrid product design.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes including injection molding, machining, stamping, MIM, extrusion, and assembly.
• Familiar with GD&T, tolerance analysis, BOM creation, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
• Hands-on experience in 3D CAD design (SolidWorks) and product prototyping.
• Basic knowledge of CAE/FEA simulation will be an added advantage.
• Good understanding of engineering plastics, product design principles, and product validation.
• Good communication skills with customers and cross-functional teams, with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
• Location: Joo Koon| Mondays to Fridays (8:30am to 5:45pm)
• Monthly salary x 13 + Variable Bonus. Monthly salary will commensurate according to experiences

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative product concepts based on customer requirements, sketches, or marketing input.
• Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D engineering drawings.
• Perform mechanical design of plastic, metal, and hybrid assemblies.
• Conduct tolerance analysis, stack-up studies, and fit/function reviews.
• Drive concept-to-prototype-to-production design process.
• Participate in customer discussions to understand technical requirements.
• Translate customer needs into engineering specifications and design solutions.
• Present concepts, design proposals, and technical recommendations.
• Support design changes and engineering problem-solving during project execution.
• Design for Manufacturability (DFM) for injection molding, CNC, sheet metal, die casting, etc.
• Work with suppliers and internal manufacturing teams.
• Optimize designs for cost, quality, assembly, and reliability.
• Coordinate prototype builds using 3D printing, CNC, silicone tooling, etc.
• Plan and execute functional tests, drop tests, life tests, and validation.
