Schott Singapore Pte Ltd. is seeking an experienced R&D Engineer to join our team in Singapore. This full-time role focuses on driving innovation in automotive engineering, including new product development, production improvements, and cross-functional leadership.
You will manage budgets, coordinate with suppliers, lead NPI handovers, and ensure quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in optoelectronic or sensor fields and proficiency with Creo, SAP, and MS Office.
Schott Singapore Pte Ltd. is seeking an experienced R&D Engineer to join our team. This is a full-time position, where you will play a vital role in driving innovation and developing cutting-edge automotive engineering solutions.
Budget:
Prepare project budgets, investment plans, and product costing. Coordinate with the supervisor and monitor project expenses.
Production:
Ensure projects are promptly executed and delivered to customers according to their requirements and relevant industry standards.
Possess good project management skills to prioritize projects and lead problem-solving efforts when encountering technical disruptions. Engage external suppliers/vendors for defect improvements.
Act as NPI (New Product Introduction) leader during the handover of new products/processes to the operations team.
Production and Process Development:
Lead the development of new concepts in production/process improvement to enhance process stability, yield, and manpower efficiency. Engage suitable external suppliers/vendors when necessary.
Systematically document all optimized process parameters, flowcharts, quality control plans/tests, and work instructions based on gained knowledge.
Conduct root cause analysis on defective products, plan necessary DOE (Design of Experiments) to identify failure modes, and initiate corrective/preventive actions. Set up proper monitoring tests in line with industrial standards to ensure product quality.
Engage SDEs or external suppliers/vendors for improvement plans when necessary.
Development:
Participate in new product development and establish product control specifications according to SCHOTT standards, relevant industry standards, and customer requirements.
Conduct DFM (Design for Manufacturing) studies on new products/processes.
Quality:
Ensure compliance with defined QS standards and inform relevant employees about customer complaints. Initiate corrective measures and monitor their implementation.
Handle customer complaints related to projects under your care.
Occupational Safety and Environmental Protection:
Monitor compliance with legal and company regulations regarding occupational safety, accident prevention, and environmental protection.
Review processes for safety and environmental issues and initiate necessary corrections or improvements.
Repair / Maintenance:
Create work instructions and maintenance plans to ensure regular upkeep of systems. Take action in the event of malfunctions or product defects.
Leadership:
Lead projects and provide clear direction, encouragement, and motivation to cross-departmental team members to ensure project success.
Ad-hoc Tasks:
May be tasked with acting as an ISO 9001 / ISO 16949 Internal Auditor, EHS Committee member, or handling any other duties as assigned.
Degree in Engineering or Physics
3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the optoelectronic or sensor industry
Knowledge of Creo, SAP, and MS Office is a plus
