Job summary

Legrand in Tuas, Singapore, is seeking a Quality Technician to ensure purchased materials are reviewed and inspected for conformance using appropriate measurement tools. The role supports production by ensuring manufacturing processes are followed and assisting in troubleshooting quality issues.

The candidate will inspect, document results, perform FAI, and drive improvements in the incoming inspection process while collaborating with Production, Planning, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • ITE or high school diploma in engineering/quality is required.
  • Quality experience in a technical background is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming material for conformance to drawings/specs.
  • Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) on new parts.
  • Record inspection results in the defined repository.
  • Resolve conformance issues with vendors and document actions.
  • Review build processes and provide feedback to improve quality.
  • Ensure workers use correct tools and follow approved procedures.
  • Assist quality team in investigating nonconforming material.
  • Communicate quality information effectively across departments.
  • Adhere to company policies and maintain attention to detail.

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Technician to join the Power & Thermal Management division in Tuas, Singapore.

The Quality Technician position is responsible for ensuring that all purchased material is reviewed & inspected for conformance against defined criteria using the necessary measurement and inspection equipment. He/She also responsible for resolving the nonconforming materials with the vendors, and provide the support to production ensuring manufacturing processes are followed along with identifying and aiding in the troubleshooting of quality related issues.

Responsibilities
  • Inspection of all incoming material to determine conformance with applicable drawings, specifications, and/or instructions
  • Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) on new part submissions
  • Records inspection results into defined repository
  • Responsible for controlling, processing & resolving any conformance related materials issue with proper documentation
  • Creates and updates test plans as required
  • Identifies the need for increased or reduced sampling based on historical inspection data.
  • Proactively seeks out opportunities to improve the incoming inspection process
  • Material movement of inspected items
  • Assists in the Quality team in investigating, containing, and controlling material that is nonconforming
  • Review operations' build processes and provide constructive feedback as necessary
  • Effectively communicate information regarding product, quality
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with various departments including Production, Planning, Supply Chain, OPEX & Engineering
  • Ensure the product is made to Legrand standards and take appropriate action, if needed
  • Ensure that employees are using the correct tools, parts, and information they need to be fully productive
  • Assist with Parts Quality Report (PQR), gauge instructions, capability data and gauge R&R studies
  • Performs all duties in a timely manner, must be a team player, self-motivated, and attention to detail (Move to Skills/knowledge/abilities)
  • Adhere to all company policies, guidelines, and practices
  • Other duties as assigned
Education
QUALIFICATIONS
  • ITE or High School Diploma in Engineering/Quality or equivalent
  • Quality experience in a technical background required
  • 2 years minimum manufacturing experience preferred
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
  • Ability to run reports, effectively present information and respond to questions
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Ability to use Syteline/ERP, MQ1 and other systems
  • Ability to learn Microsoft office
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing Concepts preferred
  • Exposure to Quality Systems (AS9100, ISO9001) preferred
  • Knowledge of standard wiring practices, IPC training or electrical certification preferred
  • Proficient in reading engineering drawings/blueprints and BOMs
  • Excellent verbal and written skills required
  • Ability to work independently
  • Working knowledge of basic inspection (calipers, micrometers, functional gaging) equipment preferred
  • Must be a team player, self-motivated, and attention to detail
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
  • The performance of this position requires exposure to the receiving/shipping and manufacturing areas where, in certain areas, the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection are required.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs (34kg). occasionally; ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs (11kg). daily.
