Job summary

Hudson River Trading (HRT) is a leading algorithmic trading firm that builds its own computing environments. As a Python Engineer, you will join a small, highly productive team to develop software that is the core of our business and supports live trading across the globe.

You will work primarily in Python, with exposure to C++ for latency-sensitive components, and collaborate with researchers and engineers to deliver high-impact, scalable solutions in distributed compute environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Deep Python experience is required, daily use of most recent standards preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of the Python ecosystem, including best practices.
• Superior design, debugging, and problem solving skills.
• Knowledge of UNIX operating systems (we use Linux), system/processor performance, and network communication.

Responsibilities

• Help us develop software that reaches every office and department at HRT using the latest Python and software engineering techniques to drive improvements.
• HRT uses Python extensively; you could work on Python-driven areas like orchestration, tooling, and deployment.
• Develop, deploy, automate, and monitor systems for global trade management and post-trade analysis.
• Build systems and tooling supporting data ETL pipelines across diverse inputs such as market data, images, and text.
• Collaborate with researchers and engineers to deliver high-impact products and streamline the trade cycle.
