Job summary

Pathlight School seeks a Psychologist to work with students on the autism spectrum, focusing on cognitive assessments, report writing, and intervention planning. You will contribute to life readiness skills and collaborate with educators and school leaders to support student development.

The role involves delivering training for educators and parents, and participating in program development to enhance autism intervention services within the Pathlight/AITC ecosystem.

Qualifications

  • Masters in Clinical or Educational Psychology is required.
  • Registered with SPS and/or eligible for full registration with SPS.
  • Desire to learn about autism and serve the autism community.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changes and different perspectives.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate as a team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct cognitive assessments and write reports for access arrangements and related purposes.
  • Develop and deliver intervention plans including behavioural support and crisis management.
  • Participate in curriculum and program development projects.
  • Provide training and consultation to educators, parents and external stakeholders.

Pathlight School is the first autism-focused school in Singapore to offer the national curriculum together with life readiness skills. It caters to students on the autism spectrum with related conditions, aged 7 to 18 years, who are cognitively able to access national curriculum but require additional support such as smaller class sizes, special accommodations and teaching staff trained in autism.

The team at Autism Intervention, Training & Consultancy (AITC) provides training and consultancy services for professionals and caregivers, as well as direct intervention services for individuals on the autism spectrum.

As a Psychologist, you will work with students with autism on a range of skills, work habits, self-regulation and social communication. Your Impact and Contribution includes:

Assessment & Report Writing
  • Conduct cognitive assessments and write reports for Access Arrangements for national exams
  • Conduct and write report for Mental Capacity for deputyship
  • Co-develop assessment process and implement in other areas of need (e.g. transitions)
Intervention
  • Positive Behaviour Support: Develop and deliver individual behaviour plans, Manage an emergency support line for school staff requiring immediate support for behavior or crisis incidence, Participate and contribute to school-wide initiatives on positive approaches to behaviour support
  • Make necessary referrals to external and alternative services where necessary
  • Participate in collaborative consultation model with key stake holders
  • Plan and deliver classroom based lesson on skills related to work habits, self-regulation, social communication or other skills related to life readiness
  • Provide advice and consultation on evidence informed practices on autism intervention to school leaders
Program Development
  • Participate in curriculum and program development projects
Coaching/Training
  • Provide training, consultation and instruction to educators on social-emotional and behavioural issues related to autism
  • Deliver training to parents on issues related to autism
  • Plan and deliver training to external stakeholders who supports our students
Requirements
  • Min. Masters in Clinical or Educational Psychology or related fields
  • Registered member of Singapore Psychological Society (SPS) and/or eligible for full registration without needing further supervision
  • Desire to learn about autism and the passion to serve the autism community
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changes and different perspectives
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate as a team member in a dynamic work environment
