Job summary

Talent Trader Group is seeking a technically driven Protection & Control Systems Engineer to join our power engineering team in Singapore. You will design, implement, test and commission protection and control systems for HV/MV substations and critical electrical infrastructure.

The role involves working with protection relays, IEDs, RTUs, SCADA integration, and creating single-line diagrams and control logic.

Qualifications

• Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in electrical protection, control systems, substation automation or power system projects.
• Experience with HV/MV switchgear, transformers, protection relays or substation equipment will be highly advantageous.
• Familiarity with IEDs, RTUs, SCADA and electrical communication systems.
• Knowledge of protection schemes, control logic, electrical drawings and single-line diagrams.
• Experience in testing, commissioning, troubleshooting or site engineering is preferred.
• Knowledge of IEC 61850, relay testing or secondary injection testing will be an advantage.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently as well as coordinate effectively with project and site teams.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and support commissioning activities when required.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer and implement electrical protection and control systems for HV/MV substations and power infrastructure.
• Work with protection relays, IEDs, RTUs, control panels, circuit breakers and disconnectors.
• Develop and review single-line diagrams, protection schemes, control logic, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
• Configure and integrate protection relays, IEDs, RTUs and substation communication systems.
• Support the integration of protection and control systems with SCADA and substation automation systems.
• Carry out testing, troubleshooting, commissioning and system integration of protection and control equipment.
• Participate in FAT, SAT, protection testing and site commissioning.
• Perform functional checks on circuit breakers, disconnectors, interlocking systems and control circuits.
• Assist in identifying and resolving protection, control, communication and equipment-related issues.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers and site teams to ensure projects are delivered according to technical requirements and schedules.
• Prepare and maintain engineering reports, test records, commissioning documentation and project deliverables.
• Support site activities including installation, testing, commissioning and integration with existing electrical infrastructure.
• Ensure all engineering and site activities comply with applicable electrical, safety and project requirements.
