Job summary

NTU NEWRI is seeking a Project Officer to conduct research on membrane and separation technology for desalination, resource recovery, and decarbonization. The role involves experimental work, modelling, and collaboration across teams to advance water sustainability initiatives.

Ideal candidates hold a chemical/environmental/mechanical engineering degree and have strong writing, presentation, and communication skills. Experience with membrane systems and electrochemical water tech is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, environmental or mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Excellent report writing skills and ability to present clearly.
• Strong oral presentation and multitasking abilities.
• Experience with membrane technology or separation processes is desirable.
• Experience with scaling up electrochemical water treatment processes is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct membrane-related projects for desalination, decarbonization, and resource recovery.
• Assist design, optimization, construction, commissioning and operation of pilot-scale and lab-scale membrane systems.
• Model membrane and separation processes, including ML-based modelling.
• Publish research data and prepare project progress reports.
• Assist in preparing grant proposals.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct membrane related projects for desalination, decarbonization, resource recovery, etc.
• Assist in the design, optimization, construction, commissioning and operation of membrane-based desalination and water reclamation pilot-scale and lab-scale systems.
• Assist in conducting membrane and separation process modelling, module-scale desalination system modelling, including conventional modelling and machine learning based modelling.
• Publish research data, prepare project progress reports.
• Assist in the preparation of grant proposals.

Job Requirements

• At least a Bachelor's degree from a reputable university in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, etc.
• Excellent report writing skill.
• Excellent oral presentation skill, multitasking skill.
• Relevant research experience on membrane technology and separation technologies.
• Relevant research experience on electrochemical processes and/or electrode synthesis.
• Relevant research experience in scaling up electrochemical water technology.
• Self-motivated and able to work on your own and in a team.
• Good interpersonal skills and communication skills.
• Strong responsibility for research.
