Job description

Job Description

We are the people who give possibilities purpose BD is one of the largest global medical technology companies in the world. Advancing the world of health™ is our Purpose, and it’s no small feat. It takes the imagination and passion of all of us—from design and engineering to the manufacturing and marketing of our billions of MedTech products per year—to look at the impossible and find transformative solutions that turn dreams into possibilities.

Metric governance and semantic layer

Document a regional metric dictionary covering definitions, formulas, units, frequency, source, owner, inclusion rules and exclusions. Facilitate alignment with plant controllers, process owners and regional stakeholders before metrics are certified. Extend the existing governed semantic model rather than creating disconnected datasets. Maintain clear data lineage from source to transformation, calculation and dashboard output. Establish validation checks and issue logs for incomplete, inconsistent, duplicated or out-of-range data.

Reporting automation and analytics

Rebuild the BDE ISC report as a refreshable report that preserves agreed business fields and eliminates manual copy-and-paste consolidation. Develop an AI maturity tracker that displays plant-level assessment progress and results. Consolidate Yokoten sharing, Kaizen charter closure and Shingijutsu project progress into one plant-level view. Develop an Ambassador Certification tracker showing progress by ambassador and plant. Develop a reviewable headcount optimization dashboard comparing plans with agreed Factory Blueprint references by plant and function. Create intuitive views, filters and drill paths that support regional, plant and functional users.

Operational and productivity insight

Analyze productivity, OEE, waste, labor efficiency, headcount and cost-improvement data to identify trends, gaps and follow-up needs. Translate operational measures into business-relevant insights while preserving the approved financial logic. Support benchmarking across plants only where metric definitions, scope and data quality are comparable. Prepare concise insights for tier meetings, monthly reviews and leadership discussions.

Governance and plant engagement

Attend selected tier meetings and monthly CI reviews to understand how information is used and ensure reporting fits existing management routines. Follow up with plant owners on missing data, stalled Kaizen charters, Shingijutsu updates and tracker discrepancies. Validate Ambassador Certification information with designated plant leads. Coordinate controller review and sign-off for headcount and cost-related outputs. Train report owners and users, document operating procedures, and complete a structured handover.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline. Available for a full-time six-month internship from January 2027. Practical SQL and Power BI experience, including data modelling. Strong interest in manufacturing, productivity, analytics and operational excellence. Willingness to work in-office at Jurong east and travel to plant in Tuas Avenue 2 when required.

Preferred

Exposure to Python and advanced DAX Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen or manufacturing-project experience. Familiarity with SAP, MES, HR, Finance or manufacturing data. Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, SharePoint or Power Platform. Previous experience developing dashboards for business users or reconciling data from multiple sources.
