Job summary

Astreya is seeking a System Administrator to support and maintain large global-scale systems for building management and security operations. The role involves ticket-based workflows, OS deployments, remote provisioning, and ongoing issue resolution.

Responsibilities include OS reinstallations, Linux troubleshooting on bare-metal servers, remote PXE installations, network configuration, and collaboration with remote teams and vendors. Strong scripting and documentation skills are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 2–5 years’ related experience or equivalent
• Builds productive internal and external working relationships
• Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine action
• Comfortable with building and managing various servers
• Experience with networking management, configurations and changes
• Experience with systems and networking troubleshooting to identify root causes
• Knowledgeable about ticket systems and follow processes
• Good communication and writing skills
• Preferred: Automation and scripting experience

Responsibilities

• Supported new server deployment by installing operating systems for new servers and preparing production readiness
• Performed server OS reinstallation and recovery for abnormal deployments, troubleshooting boot, disk, network, and system issues
• Assisted with large-scale remote OS installations using PXE boot and provisioning workflows
• Conducted post-installation checks: network connectivity, hardware status, disk recognition, management interface access
• Troubleshot Linux issues on bare-metal servers (boot failures, RAID, kernel/driver issues)
• Handled server network troubleshooting: IP configuration, VLAN, DNS, IPv4/IPv6 connectivity
• Used IPMI to check health, access remote consoles, power cycle servers
• Followed up on server break-fix repairs and on-call support
• Worked with remote teams, vendors to investigate failures and deployment issues
• Submitted and tracked hardware RMA and disposal processes
• Improved operational efficiency by updating scripts (Bash/Python) and automation tasks
• Created and maintained technical documentation and SOPs for deployment and issue handling
