Job summary

PPG Coatings (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd seeks a color matching technician to ensure accurate color development for coatings. You will establish formulae, blend and spray color matches, and perform corrections to meet quality standards.

The role supports CMAG activities and maintains global color standards across regions. You will perform tests on activators/solvents, manage lab equipment maintenance, and participate in color key initiatives, acting as the SEA color focal point.

• Working knowledge of color spectrophotometer.
• Able to read measuring equipment.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the color matching and quality checks of various coatings products.
• Establish the formulae using a spectrophotometer or color match techniques, blend and spray the color match and perform corrections.
• Identify and correct color shifts and associated color problems, and scale up the formulae for production.
• Perform tests on activators and solvents as determined by the QC card.
• Carry out production batch for coatings as per the approved formulae.
• Participate, liaise and contribute to the Color Management Action Group (CMAG).
• Manage and maintain the global color standards (BMS, Federal, internal working copies etc).
• Serve as the focal point and color representative for ASC South East Asia (S.E.A).
• Support and manage the A/P regions color key.
• Perform preventive maintenance, manage calibrations log for lab equipment, and maintain a 5S housekeeping program.

Job description

Reporting to Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for color matching, formulation adjustment, and quality testing of coatings products to ensure compliance with customer and quality standards. You will also support production, color management activities and the upkeep of global color standards.

Key responsibilities

Responsible for the color matching and quality checks of various coatings products

Establish the formulae using a spectrophotometer or color match techniques, blend and spray the color match and perform corrections

Identify and correct color shifts and associated color problems, and scale up the formulae for production

Perform tests on activators and solvents as determined by the QC card

Carry out production batch for coatings as per the approved formulae

Participate, liaise and contribute to the Color Management Action Group (CMAG)

Manage and maintain the global color standards (BMS, Federal, internal working copies etc)
