Job summary

PPG Industries in Singapore seeks a color matcher and quality tester to ensure accuracy of coatings color development and testing. Responsibilities

• Perform color matching and quality checks of coatings products.
• Establish formulae using a spectrophotometer, blend and spray, and correct color matches.
• Identify and correct color shifts and related issues; scale formulae for production.
• Carry out production batches per approved formulae; conduct activator/solvent tests per QC card.
• Participate in the Color Management Action Group (CMAG) and maintain global color standards.
• Act as focal point for ASC SEA’s color software and support regional color keys.
• Perform preventive maintenance, maintain calibration logs for lab equipment, and uphold 5S.

Job description

Reporting to Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for color matching, formulation adjustment, and quality testing of coatings products to ensure compliance with customer and quality standards. You will also support production, color management activities and the upkeep of global color standards.

Responsibilities

• You will be responsible for the color matching and quality checks of various coatings products.
• The incumbent will establish the formulae using a spectrophotometer or color match techniques, blend and spray the color match and perform corrections.
• Have the ability to identify and correct color shifts and associated color problems. The formulae will be scaled up for production. Other tests required will include tests on activators and solvents as determined by the QC card.
• Carried out production batch for coatings as per the approved formulae.
• The incumbent will participate, liaise and contribute to the Color Management Action Group (CMAG). Have responsibility to manage and maintain the global color standards (BMS, Federal, internal working copies etc).
• Be the focal point and color representative for ASC South East Asia (S.E.A). Have the responsibility to be ASC S.E.A’s member/contact point for the software “on color”. Support and manage the A/P regions color key.
• Other duties include preventive maintenance, managing calibrations log for lab equipment, and maintaining a 5S housekeeping program.
