Job summary

Molex in Singapore is seeking an Engineer in Product Design within our Datacom and Specialty Solutions Division to drive new product development from concept to market introduction. You will research innovative designs, lead design and development activities, and support products through their lifecycle with a focus on meeting customer requirements and improving manufacturing processes.

Collaboration across departments and with customers is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Engineering (preferably Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in product design and development, preferably in connector design and manufacturing.
• Strong product design engineering knowledge with creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in design control, management, and engineering analysis.
• Effective communication and leadership abilities.
• Proficient in Mandarin to better serve our Mandarin-speaking customers and collaborate with counterparts.

Responsibilities

• Review customer requirements and conduct design feasibility studies.
• Benchmark competitor designs and generate innovative design proposals using CAD.
• Lead design reviews, design verification, and conduct design FMEA to ensure manufacturability and reliability.
• Manage design documentation, patent considerations, and coordinate with Legal for patent opinions.
• Support product introduction by visiting customers and manufacturing partners as required.
• Provide engineering support for product modifications, cost reductions, and process improvements.
• Participate in cost reduction activities and respond to customer design-related issues.
