Job summary

Inter Island Group is seeking a Process Engineer to join the Penang team. You will optimize manufacturing capability, drive process improvements, and implement robust corrective actions through root-cause analyses.

Role involves planning DOEs, setting up SOPs, and leading new process implementations in a high-volume production environment. Fresh graduates and diploma holders with relevant manufacturing exposure are encouraged to apply; English is essential, Mandarin is a plus.

Qualifications

• Diploma holders with 2–3 years of relevant manufacturing experience are encouraged to apply.

• Design of Experiments (DOE): plan and execute DOEs to optimize process parameters.
• Technical Root-Cause Analysis: investigate root causes of defects and implement corrective actions.
• Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): assist in setting up machine procedures, parameters, and safety guidelines.
• Cost Optimization: explore opportunities to reduce material usage or source lower-cost alternatives.

The Role

We are seeking an analytical, resourceful Process Engineer to join the engineering team in Penang. In this role, you will be directly involved in optimizing manufacturing capability, driving process improvement initiatives, conducting root-cause failure analyses, and implementing cost-effective production methods.

Key Responsibilities

• Process Improvement & Evaluation: Study, test, and evaluate new manufacturing methods and materials to continuously elevate process capabilities and yield.

• Design of Experiments (DOE): Plan and execute DOEs to establish key process parameters and optimize product characteristics.

• Technical Root-Cause Analysis: Investigate and determine root causes for process-related sample rejections or quality defects, implementing robust corrective actions.

• Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Assist production teams in setting up machine operating procedures, process parameters, and safety guidelines.

• Cost Optimization: Explore and evaluate opportunities to reduce standard material usage or source lower-cost, high-quality material alternatives.

• New Process Implementation: Lead the seamless rollout and validation of new manufacturing processes on the production line.

Key Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering. (Fresh Graduates are welcome, as full training will be provided; Diploma holders with 2–3 years of relevant manufacturing experience are also encouraged to apply.)

• Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong troubleshooting capabilities with a structured, data-driven approach to technical problem-solving.

• Personal Attributes: Independent, creative, highly resourceful, and capable of performing effectively under high-pressure manufacturing deadlines.

• Communication: Strong technical report writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

• Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in spoken and written Mandarin is an added advantage to facilitate effective communication with Mandarin-speaking equipment suppliers and internal stakeholders.
