Job summary

DenseLight Semiconductors PTE LTD is seeking a Process Engineer to evaluate, inspect, analyze and improve the backend assembly process for laser diode manufacturing. You will develop processes aligned to the company’s technology roadmap and integrate with in-house and outsourced capabilities.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering and 1–2 years in photonics/laser diode assembly or related fields, with strong problem solving, lean methods, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Qualifications

Job description

Job Objectives

To be able to evaluate, inspect, analyze and improve the backend assembly process for the laser diode manufacturing.

To develop processes and capabilities align to company's technology and product roadmap, align to and integrate with in-house manufacturing capabilities and outsource.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in continuous improvement of processes pertaining to the manufacturing of laser diode.
• Evaluate skill levels of operators, develop training materials, coach and train team members for improving team and process performance. Document procedures and processes. Ensure compliance with ISO standards and support audit functions.
• Analyze process out of control and failures and accordingly develop corrective actions.
• Develop improvements to enhance process capability.
• Monitor process performance and suggest improvements.
• Work with management to develop process specifications for next generation products.
• Work with Specialists/vendors to design and develop new process.
• Ensure compliance with ISO standards and support audit functions.
• Provide support for Customer Returns.
• Perform process qualification before handing off to production.
• Develop cost-reduction initiatives while still maintaining quality and productivity.
• Provide job assistance and conduct job trainings for employees as needed.
• Aligning and supporting Packaging roadmaps, developing and optimizing processes to improve product quality and reliability,
• Executing new product introduction while evaluating new/future Process and/or Material Technologies and developing procedures / documentations.
• Involving in managing project handover and transfer of products.
• Working on process yield improvement, cost reduction, productivity improvement and risk management as well as resolving manufacturing line problems.
• You will also be required to identify, diagnose and resolve assembly process related problems by applying failure analysis, FMEA, 8D or SPC methodology.
• Additional responsibilities include coordinating and carrying out process and material evaluation/optimization to implement changes at process step, leading and participating in yield improvement and cost reduction activities, handling new process baseline qualifications.

Qualification Guidelines

Minimum Education Bachelor degree in engineering or sub-field of engineering

Minimum Experience

A minimum 1 - 2 years of experience in photonics /laser diode assembly packaging process with some experience in manufacturing/process development, operations management in the field of photonics, semiconductors,

Specific Knowledge / Skills

• Experienced process engineer who is highly effective working in a team-oriented matrix organization.
• Must have proven skills effective problem solving, troubleshooting and root cause failure analysis.
• Possesses strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate cross-functionally with R&d, Quality and Operations
• Understanding process validations. Experience using Lean Manufacturing tools
• Knowledge of up-to-date production processes, designs and functions.
• Good team player with positive working attitude and able to interact with all level, proactive and able to work independently
