THE SR GROUP (SINGAPORE) PTE. LTD. is seeking an experienced Privacy Counsel to join its legal and compliance function, supporting complex privacy, data protection, and regulatory matters in a fast-paced technology environment.

This role involves cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, security, marketing and business stakeholders to advance global privacy initiatives and privacy-by-design principles.

Qualifications

  • Qualified lawyer with a law degree and admission to practice in at least one jurisdiction.
  • Approximately 5+ years of post-qualification experience in privacy, data protection, technology, or commercial law.
  • Experience in a technology company, digital platform, multinational corporation, or leading law firm.
  • Strong working knowledge of international privacy regulations, especially GDPR and APAC frameworks.
  • Experience advising on product, marketing, analytics, or cross-border data flows is advantageous.
  • Commercially minded with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and drafting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on global privacy and data protection laws, including GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, PDPA, and other international privacy frameworks.
  • Support privacy compliance across products, platforms, marketing activities, and data-driven initiatives.
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs/DPIAs) and provide practical risk-based recommendations.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate privacy-related contractual provisions, including data processing agreements and vendor contracts.
  • Partner with business and technology teams to embed privacy-by-design principles into products and services.
  • Assist with regulatory inquiries, investigations, and data subject rights requests.
  • Monitor emerging privacy regulations and communicate legal developments to relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver privacy training and internal compliance guidance.
  • Support third-party risk management, cross-border data transfer assessments, and incident response activities.
