Job summary

OKX is seeking a Principal / Staff Engineer to drive compliance platform initiatives and weave AI into enterprise engineering workflows. The role requires distributed systems expertise, Java services, and auditable AI-integration in regulated environments.

You will define architecture for KYC, AML, sanctions screening, and regulatory reporting, while layering AI capabilities and maintaining robust, auditable inference infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Experience in KYC/AML or regulatory audit environments preferred.
• Production AI/ML integration in Java services using REST or gRPC.
• AI model evaluation, prompt engineering, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
• Experience with state machines, idempotency, exactly-once semantics.
• Strong written and verbal communication with compliance teams.

Responsibilities

• Define architecture for compliance platforms covering KYC onboarding, identity verification, sanctions and monitoring.
• Build AI-powered capabilities like screening, document verification, anomaly detection, risk scoring.
• Lead projects, coordinate resources, ensure timely delivery of AI model integrations.
• Collaborate with Data Science, Risk, and Legal to productionize AI models with auditable infra.
• Design boundaries between probabilistic AI and deterministic controls for auditability.
• Mentor engineers and establish AI engineering best practices and governance.
