Job summary

Autodesk is seeking a Principal Engineer to own architecture for a large-scale streaming platform built on Apache Flink, Kafka, and AWS. You will define end-to-end architecture, API boundaries, and multi-tenant patterns while partnering with product and data teams.

You will mentor engineers, lead design of Java/Spring Boot services for the platform control plane, and drive reliability, security, and developer experience across self-serve workflows.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with distributed systems in production.
• Expert-level experience with Apache Kafka and Apache Flink in production.
• Strong proficiency in Java; Spring Boot experience building production APIs.
• Hands-on AWS experience; knowledge of Kubernetes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design the streaming platform and end-to-end architecture.
• Lead design of Spring Boot services for platform control plane.
• Improve developer experience with self-serve portals and UX.
• Define and refine SLIs/SLOs, capacity planning, and backpressure.
• Champion observability with metrics, tracing, logging and alerting.
