Job summary

Autodesk is seeking a Principal Engineer to own architecture and technical design for a large-scale streaming platform built on Apache Flink, Kafka, and AWS. You will shape stream topology, control planes, and developer experiences while mentoring engineers and raising reliability and security standards.

You will partner with product, platform, and data teams to define scalable, API-first boundaries and drive end-to-end delivery for self-serve workflows across streaming workloads.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with distributed systems in production.
• Expert-level Kafka and Flink experience, including operational aspects and performance tuning.
• Strong Java proficiency and Spring Boot for production APIs and services.
• Hands-on AWS design and operations, IAM, observability patterns, and security considerations.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design the streaming platform end-to-end.
• Define architecture for stream processing, stateful processing, and delivery.
• Create API-first boundaries and scalable, safe multi-tenant patterns.
• Lead platform surface development and Spring Boot-based services.
• Enhance developer experience through self-serve flows and documentation.
• Own CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and on-call readiness for platform reliability.
