Job summary

PBA Group in Singapore is seeking an experienced Principal/Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the end-to-end design, simulation, and integration of customized module solutions for diversified industries such as semiconductor, medical, pharmaceutical, aerospace, etc.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams—including electrical, motion control, and manufacturing—to translate complex technical requirements into reliable, manufacturable, and cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• At least 10 years of working experience in semiconductor equipment or industrial automation.
• Proficient with SolidWorks and PDM for design and drawing management.
• In-depth knowledge of motion control components and precision motion modules.
• Responsible and able to work professionally, independently and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of customized engineering solutions using SolidWorks.
• Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and work with FEA team to optimize structural integrity, vibration control, and dynamic performance.
• Oversee physical prototyping, assembly, alignment, functional testing, and DVT.
• Collaborate with machining vendors and internal manufacturing teams to select optimal materials, heat treatments, and fabrication processes.
• Drive ECOs, maintain Detailed BOMs, and ensure compliance with ISO standards.
• Guide and review the technical output of junior mechanical engineers and CAD designers.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Principal/Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team in Singapore. In this role, you will lead the end-to-end design, simulation, and integration of customised module solutions for diversified industries, such as semiconductor, medical, pharmaceutical, aerospace, etc. You will work closely with cross-functional teams—including electrical, motion control, and manufacturing—to translate complex technical requirements into reliable, manufacturable, and cost-effective solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Mechanical Design:
  Lead the design and development of customized engineering solutions using SolidWorks

• Analysis & Simulation:
  Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and work with FEA team to optimize structural integrity, vibration control, and dynamic performance

• Prototyping & Qualification:
  Oversee physical prototyping, assembly, alignment, functional testing, and Design Verification Testing (DVT)

• Design for Manufacturability (DFMA):
  Collaborate with machining vendors and internal manufacturing teams to select optimal materials, heat treatments, and fabrication processes

• Lifecycle & ECO Management:
  Drive Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), maintain Detailed Bill of Materials (BOMs), and ensure full compliance with ISO standards

• Technical Mentorship:
  Guide and review the technical output of junior mechanical engineers and CAD designers

Job Requirements

• Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent

• At least 10 years of working experience in semiconductor equipment or industrial automation

• Proficient with mechanical design and drawing management using SolidWorks and PDM

• In-depth knowledge of motion control components (linear guides, ball screws, direct-drive motors, encoders, air bearings, pneumatic systems)

• Knowledgeable in design and assembly of precision motion modules
