Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Physics, or a related field.
• Master’s or PhD in photonics and optoelectronics preferred.
• 8–12+ years of experience in photonics, optical communications, or semiconductor optoelectronic product development.
• Experience with optical transmitter or optical engine products used in optical transceivers.
• Excel data collection and analysis required; JMP, Python, C/C++, MATLAB, LabVIEW, R or similar tools preferred.
• Mask layout tools (KLayout, LayoutEditor) and simulation tools (Lumerical FDTD, RSoft, ZEMAX, SolidWorks) a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking with excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead Transmit Productization: drive end-to-end development of optical engine transmit modules for high-volume manufacturing.
• Translate Specifications: convert device-level capabilities into optical engine performance specs and validation plans.
• Component Characterization: develop and execute plans for EMLs, modulators, and waveguide structures.
• Evaluate Key Metrics: analyze optical output power, extinction ratio, bandwidth, and temperature dependence.
• System Integration: collaborate with design teams to integrate lasers and modulators into complete engines.
• Manufacturing Strategy: establish test flows for transmit module screening and validation.
• Yield & Reliability Analysis: use production data to identify performance variations and risks.
• Automated Data Workflows: implement data analysis and reporting to identify root causes of limitations.
• Cross-Functional Technical Support: support packaging and sales with technical insights for docs and specs.

Education
