Job summary

Wood (Amec Foster Wheeler) leads architectural engineering and design activities, coordinating teams to deliver high-quality, timely deliverables within budget while supporting project execution and client requirements in a safety-focused environment.

The role emphasizes directing architecture professionals, liaising with permitting and qualified persons, and ensuring compliance with project execution plans and standards across complex pharmaceutical, chemical, LNG, and refinery projects.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Architecture is required
  • Registered Professional in any Accredited Professional Entity/Country
  • 15 to 20 years of relevant experience in Pharmaceutical plants, Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical, Chemical, LNG, and Power Plants

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate architectural engineering and design activities on assigned projects following Project Execution Plans and standards to ensure quality and compliance
  • Manage the Architectural Specialists team to deliver work on schedule and within allocated work hour budgets
  • Collaborate with Permitting Coordinator and Qualified Persons to submit architectural documents timely for local authority approvals
  • Allocate manpower and verify technical competence to meet project requirements and budget constraints
  • Review and provide input on project schedules to ensure realistic timelines and effective progress tracking
  • Assign tasks and coordinate architects’ activities to maintain clear communication and efficient workflow
  • Prepare, review, check, issue, and track all architectural deliverables up to construction issue stage
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with engineering procedures and design safety requirements, including review and approval of safety-critical designs by authorized engineers
  • Develop deliverables lists with man-hour estimates for all architectural activities to support resource planning
  • Attend progress meetings and prepare Architectural Engineering Progress Reports to communicate status and resolve issues
  • Conduct or assist in model reviews with clients and internal teams according to Wood procedures to ensure design accuracy
  • Support technical audits by providing required documentation and addressing critical observations promptly
  • Review and control changes outside project scope, estimating impacts on man-hours, costs, and schedule for Project Engineering Manager approval
  • Assist in site walk-down surveys and walk-throughs with engineers and client representatives to resolve technical issues efficiently
  • Prepare subcontract requisitions for architectural work and participate in technical bid evaluations to ensure quality vendor selection
  • Provide construction support by visiting or being stationed at the site as required to facilitate issue resolution
  • Assist Section Head in preparing project proposals to support business development
  • Participate in cost estimation activities and document the basis for cost estimates to ensure accurate budgeting

Education

Degree in Architecture
Registered Professional in any Accredited Professional Entity/Country
