Job summary

Kajima Overseas Asia (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. seeks an Architectural Manager to oversee the entire architectural scope of projects, from design coordination and shop drawing approval to on-site execution.

You will bridge gaps among design consultants, subcontractors, and site teams to manage schedules, quality control, and technical issue resolution. The role requires leading multidisciplinary teams, ensuring designs meet local codes and safety standards, and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • 10–15 years of progressive experience in architecture and design management, with a focus on large-scale mega projects in Singapore.
  • Experience with A1 contractors is preferred.
  • Proficiency in architectural design software (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM Navisworks) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of Singapore's building regulations, codes, and safety standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and drive alignment among diverse teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architectural planning and design phases for large-scale mega projects, ensuring innovative solutions that align with client expectations and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers and construction managers, to create comprehensive project designs from concept to execution.
  • Manage the architectural project lifecycle, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation, ensuring milestones are met on time and within budget.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and other key stakeholders to track project progress and implement necessary adjustments to meet strategic goals.
  • Review and validate architectural designs, ensuring they are practical, sustainable, and in compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
  • Conduct design reviews and maintain open communication with clients, architects, and regulatory bodies to facilitate smooth project implementation.
  • Establish and enforce quality assurance protocols throughout the project, ensuring all architectural work meets prescribed standards and complies with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform regular site inspections to monitor construction activities and address and resolve any architectural discrepancies promptly.
  • Prepare QM/PQP, RFI, RFA, Method Statements, DfS submission, CONQUAS Inspections and follow ups.
  • Handle material & technical submission, sample selection as per the spec and negotiate with consultants for alternates when unable to find.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior architects and design staff, promoting professional development and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Encourage creative problem-solving and effective collaboration among team members to achieve project objectives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all architectural matters, ensuring effective communication among clients, contractors, and consultants.
  • Prepare and present architectural proposals and reports to senior management and clients, showcasing project progress and addressing concerns.
  • Collaborate with safety teams to implement comprehensive safety plans and ensure on-site adherence to safety protocols.

Job description

An Architectural Manager oversees the entire architectural scope of projects, from design coordination and shop drawing approval to on-site execution, ensuring compliance with specifications and Singapore building regulations. They bridge the gap among design consultants, subcontractors, and site teams to manage construction schedules, quality control, and the resolution of technical issues.

This role is pivotal in overseeing the architectural aspects of projects, ensuring they are executed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

The candidate is required to work both in the office and at project sites.

The candidate will report to the Project Manager / Project Director / HOD - Engineering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the architectural planning and design phases for large-scale mega projects, ensuring innovative solutions that align with client expectations and regulatory requirements.

9. Other duties as assigned by the HOD - Engineering or Project Management Team.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in architecture and design management, with a focus on large-scale mega projects in Singapore. Experience with A1 contractors is preferred.
  • Proficiency in architectural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, BIM Navisworks) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of Singapore's building regulations, codes, and safety standards.
  • Skilled at managing pressure during tight deadlines and adept at handling stress.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and drive alignment among diverse teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional certifications (e.g., Registered Architect, Chartered Architect) are highly desirable.
  • Experience managing large-scale commercial, residential, integrated, government, or industrial projects is a plus.
