Job summary

Canadian International School Pte Ltd in Singapore is seeking a Primary Arts Teacher for a full-time maternity coverage role. You will plan and deliver visual arts lessons across primary year groups, fostering creativity and confidence in a multicultural school community.

You will maintain a vibrant studio, assess progress, organize exhibitions, and collaborate with colleagues to integrate art across the curriculum.

Qualifications

• Recognised teaching qualification in Primary Visual Arts or equivalent primary-level experience.
• Experience teaching visual arts to primary-aged students in international or multicultural settings.
• Strong knowledge of art pedagogy and a range of media/techniques.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, and staff.
• Creative thinking with engaging, imaginative lesson development.
• Strong classroom management to create an inclusive studio environment.
• Experience organizing art exhibitions or community art projects is advantageous.
• Commitment to international education and cultural diversity.

About the role

We are seeking a Primary Arts Teacher to join the Canadian International School in a full-time, maternity coverage position. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' creative development and artistic confidence through visual arts education. Based in the Jurong East West Region, this role offers the chance to work within a dynamic, internationally-minded school community. Key responsibilities

• Planning and delivering engaging visual arts lessons that develop students' creative expression, fine motor skills, and artistic techniques across primary year groups

• Creating a supportive and inclusive studio environment where all students feel confident to experiment with different media and take creative risks

• Designing age-appropriate art projects that incorporate various mediums, techniques, art history, and cultural traditions

• Assessing students' artistic progress and providing constructive feedback to support their creative development

• Collaborating with colleagues to integrate visual arts across the curriculum and support interdisciplinary learning

• Organising and curating school art exhibitions, displays, and showcases that celebrate student creativity

• Maintaining art supplies, equipment, and studio spaces in good working and safe order

• Communicating regularly with parents and guardians regarding students' progress and achievements in visual arts

• Contributing to the school's arts programming and extracurricular art clubs or activities

About you

• A recognised teaching qualification in Primary Visual Arts or a related discipline, or equivalent experience teaching art at the primary level

• Proven experience teaching visual arts to primary-aged students in an international or multicultural school setting

• Strong knowledge of art pedagogy, various artistic mediums and techniques, and child development as it relates to creative education

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff

• Creative thinking and the ability to develop imaginative, engaging lessons that inspire student participation

• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create an inclusive, safe, and supportive studio environment

• Flexibility, adaptability, and a collaborative approach to working within a team

• Experience with organizing art exhibitions or community art projects would be highly advantageous
