Job summary

Ingersoll Rand plc is seeking an experienced workshop technician in Singapore to support repair, overhaul, and refurbishment of compressor components. The role requires hands-on operation of manual lathes and cylindrical grinders, with the ability to read engineering drawings and confirm tolerances.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical engineering background and 5 years of machining experience in a manufacturing or workshop setting.

Qualifications

• Background in Mechanical Engineering, Machining, or related discipline.
• 5 years of relevant machining experience in a manufacturing, repair, or workshop environment.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and tolerances.
• Experience in compressor/rotating equipment repair is an advantage.
• Forklift license is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Operate conventional manual lathe machines and cylindrical grinding machines for component repair and refurbishment.
• Perform machining, grinding, and fitting work per engineering drawings and repair procedures.
• Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble compressor components and related equipment.
• Conduct dimensional checks using micrometers, vernier calipers, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
• Interpret technical drawings, repair specifications, and work instructions.
• Ensure machined parts meet dimensional and quality requirements.
• Maintain equipment, tools, and work areas per safety and 5S standards.
• Support continuous improvement to reduce outsourcing.
• Perform other workshop duties as assigned.
