Job summary

SBS Transit Ltd in Singapore seeks an experienced Power and Electrical Services Engineer to manage and maintain the Power and Electrical Services System for MRT operations. The role ensures safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance, with responsibility for planning maintenance programs and supervising staff.

You will coordinate with external agencies, develop work instructions, and oversee maintenance contracts while driving asset performance and cost-efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized University.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the Power and Electrical Services System to ensure safety, reliability and regulatory compliance for MRT operation.
  • Ensure equipment is operated and maintained per manufacturer recommendations and legislative requirements.
  • Plan and implement a cost effective and comprehensive maintenance program.
  • Achieve Operational goals for Power Supply availability and reliability.
  • Develop and regularly revise Work Instructions per approved procedures, regulations, manufacturer recommendations and industry standards.
  • Participate in investigations, identify root causes and manage repair works.
  • Oversee non-executive staff including selection, disciplinary actions, performance reviews, and training/development.
  • Liaise with external agencies on Power Supply system matters.
  • Prepare, evaluate and oversee maintenance contracts including certifying contractors’ work, invoices, PO and VO.
  • Procure tools, spares and services for the system, conduct obsolescence studies and follow-up plans.
  • Ensure safe work conditions and access for main line and depot maintenance.
  • Participate in testing and commissioning of equipment and adherence to specifications.
  • Contribute to Failure Review and Corrective Action implementation.
  • Contribute to asset management plans, budgets and monitoring of asset performance.
  • Supervise projects from planning to execution to ensure compliance with specifications and objectives.
  • Undertake tasks and projects assigned by Head of Department.

Job description

  • Manage and maintain the Power and Electrical Services System so as to ensure that the safety, reliability and availability of such services meet all regulatory requirements for MRT operation.
  • Ensure that all equipment is operated and maintained in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and in compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Plan and implement a cost effective and comprehensive maintenance program.
  • Achieve Operational goals for Power Supply availability and reliability.
  • Develop and regularly revise Work Instructions in accordance with approved documented procedures, regulations, manufacturer recommendations, industry best practices and other relevant standards.
  • Participate in handling complex investigative tasks, identifying root causes and managing comprehensive repair works.
  • Responsible for the management of non-executive staff including participation in the selection process, handling disciplinary actions, conducting performance review, as well as involvement in staff training and development.
  • Liaise with external agencies on all matters pertaining to the Power Supply system and its equipment.
  • Prepare, evaluate and oversee maintenance contracts inclusive of certifying outsourced maintenance contractor's work, invoices, purchase order and variation order.
  • Procure all necessary tools, spares and services pertaining to the system operation, including conducting obsolescence studies and implementing followup plans.
  • Ensure safe work conditions and access for Main line and Depot maintenance activities.
  • Participate in testing and commissioning of equipment, ensuring proper functionality and adherence to specifications.
  • Participate in Failure Review and Corrective Action implementation.
  • Participate in the formulation of asset management plans, preparation of associated budgets and monitoring of asset performance.
  • Supervise project initiatives and modification tasks, including detailed planning, execution and monitoring to ensure compliance to specifications and objectives.
  • Undertake and manage tasks and projects assigned by the Head of Department.
Requirements
  • Possess a Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized University
