Job summary

SPD in Singapore seeks a Physiotherapist to assess and implement interventions for clients with mobility and functional challenges. You will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team to plan care and monitor progress, updating caregivers on client status.

The role includes home/school/workplace visits when needed and opportunities to train staff on therapy platforms, with emphasis on evidence-based practice and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy or its equivalent recognised by Allied Health Prof Council.
  • Eligible for registration as a Physiotherapist under the Allied Health Professions Act 2011.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in local languages will be an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, develop, plan, and implement physiotherapy interventions in line with programme SOPs.
  • Collaborate with a multi-/inter-disciplinary team for client care.
  • Monitor progress and review needs as per programme requirements.
  • Provide physiotherapy consultation and update to caregivers and care team.
  • Refer clients to specialists as needed for further treatment.
  • Conduct home/school/workplace visits when necessary.
  • Provide training on relevant platforms as required.
  • Participate in departmental administrative duties and ensure timely documentation.
  • Maintain inventory of therapy equipment and resources for the programme.
  • Provide on-the-job guidance and share knowledge with staff.
  • Engage in continual professional development and literature reviews.
  • Represent SPD in networking with community organisations and perform other duties as assigned.

  • Provide physiotherapy consultation, support and update on the clients’ progress and status to caregivers and all those involved in the client care team.

  • Refer clients to respective specialists (e.g., other therapists, psychologists, neurologists, doctors, etc.) for consultation and further treatment or training as and when necessary.

  • Contribute to service quality assurance initiatives, including audits, risk identification, and incident reporting.

  • Maintain inventory of therapy equipment and resources for the programme.


Clinical Teaching and Supervision


  • Provide on-the-job guidance to other staff (e.g., support staff, therapy assistants, other members of the collaborative team), caregivers and volunteers in the execution and/or maintenance of physiotherapy programmes.

  • Share knowledge and best practices with peers and junior staff when required.

  • Provide physiotherapy-related training on relevant platforms when required.


Professional Development


  • Actively engage in continual professional development to maintain and enhance clinical competency.

  • Participate in literature reviews and research-related activities to support evidence-based practice.

  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in the field of physiotherapy and apply relevant knowledge to clinical work.

  • Attend and contribute regularly to staff meetings, case conferences, in-services as well as other meetings as required.


Other Activities


  • Participate in cross divisional committees or events organised by SPD when required.

  • Represent SPD in networking with other community organisations as requested.

  • Engage in any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
