Job summary

Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore seeks a Physiotherapist to assess and develop individualised paediatric physiotherapy programmes, document progress, and monitor outcomes. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to facilitate community integration and support families.

You will supervise Physiotherapy Aides, caregivers and volunteers, and provide training to staff and school-based teams to ensure continuity of therapy across settings.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Physiotherapy.
  • Minimum 2 years working experience in Paediatric Rehabilitation.
  • AHPC registration with Singapore Allied Health Professions Council; active Practising License.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and identify individual needs and implement therapy programmes.
  • Institute one-to-one or group sessions as required.
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary team to integrate clients into the community.
  • Supervise Physiotherapy Aides, caregivers and volunteers in programme maintenance.
  • Maintain and update physiotherapy records including assessments, goals, and discharge planning.

OVERVIEW

Assess and identify individual needs of clients, formulate/develop and implement appropriate individualised physiotherapy programmes. Evaluate and document clients' physiotherapy needs and progress at regular intervals, monitor training programmes and review its effectiveness. Train and supervise Physiotherapy Aides, caregivers and volunteers in the maintenance of physiotherapy programmes. Work with multi-disciplinary team in integrating the clients into the community.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Assessment, Identification & Implementation of Therapy Programmes
  • Assess and identify individual needs of clients, formulate/develop and implement appropriate individualised physiotherapy programmes. These would aim to facilitate, restore, improve or maintain movement and functional abilities.
  • Work with clients on a one-to-one basis, group or special setting based on their levels of function and severity of disability.
  • Liaise with various disciplines involved in the rehabilitative treatment process.
  • Evaluate and document clients' physiotherapy needs and progress at regular intervals, monitor training programmes and review its effectiveness.
  • Refer clients to the respective specialists for consultation and appropriate intervention.
  • Provide physiotherapy consultation, support and update on the clients' progress and status to caregivers and all those involved in the rehabilitation team.
  • Evaluate, prescribe and fabricate/purchase assistive devices as required by the clients to improve function.
  • Train and supervise Physiotherapy Aides, caregivers and volunteers in the maintenance of physiotherapy programmes.
  • Be involved in discussions of client-related issues with caregivers, volunteers and members of the rehabilitative team.
Special School
  • Involve in individual and group activity programmes conducted for children in special school setting.
  • Train and teach school teachers/ assistants in relevant basic techniques of physiotherapy to facilitate implementation in classroom setting.
  • Liaise and teach parents in client handling skills to ensure and encourage continuity of PT programmes both at home and in school.
  • Provide support and counselling to families of clients when required.
Sheltered Workshop
  • Monitor and evaluate clients functional abilities and make recommendations regarding clients' suitability for employment.
Administration
  • Engage in administrative duties relevant to departmental work.
  • Evaluation of effectiveness and relevance of program.
  • Ensure that efficient physiotherapy records of clientele are kept and information on the following are properly recorded:
  • Initial assessment
  • Re-assessment
  • Therapy goals, aims and objectives
  • Review therapy plan when necessary
  • Schedule planning
  • Discharge planning
  • Maintain database of all clients.
Professional/Staff Development
  • Keep abreast of latest development in service delivery of physiotherapy related areas to ensure that therapy programmes are kept updated.
  • Participate and help Senior Physiotherapist in Research / Projects and present papers where conferences are available.
  • Attend the professional developmental skills trainings when opportunity and interested topic conducted.
Other Activities
  • Work with multi-disciplinary team in integrating the clients into the community.
  • Undertake responsibilities and duties assigned by the Head of Department or Executive Director or the Management from time to time.
  • Participate actively in the related working committees and projects that involve multidiscipline:
  • Professional Sub Committee
  • Case & Review Sub Committee
  • Workshop Sub-Committee
  • Other sub-committees or projects as directed by the Head of Department or Executive Director
  • Undertake responsibilities and duties assigned by the Head of Department or Executive Director or the Management from time to time.
Maintenance
  • Ensure that all physiotherapy equipment are maintained regularly by regular servicing and repair when deemed necessary.
  • Ensure that proper inventory of all equipment and fixtures are kept and regularly updated.
General Duties
  • Supervise daily routine of Physiotherapy support staff.
  • Provide on-the-job training to Physiotherapy support staff.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Minimum 2 years working experience in Paediatric Rehabilitation to provide Early Intervention Program therapy services
  • Obtained Full or Restricted Registration and a valid Practicing License with the Singapore Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) Member of Singapore Physiotherapy Association
