Job summary

Hwa Chong International School seeks a dedicated Physical Education Teacher to inspire students across secondary and pre-tertiary levels. The role includes supervising CCAs, developing engaging activities, and contributing to school programmes.

The successful candidate will have a PE degree with teaching qualifications, at least 3 years of PE experience, and a passion for promoting healthy, active lifestyles while maintaining strong communication with parents and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or equivalent.
• Post-graduate Diploma in Education or teaching qualification preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of teaching PE experience and overseeing CCAs.
• Willingness to teach across secondary to pre-tertiary levels.
• Knowledge of first aid is a plus.

Responsibilities

PHYSICAL EDUCATION (PE) TEACHER

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead up to two Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) groups, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for students' participation.
• Develop engaging and skill-enhancing activities that align with the school's educational goals.
• Monitor the progress of students in the CCAs, providing constructive feedback and guidance for improvement.
• Monitor students' academic, social and emotional well-being, providing appropriate guidance and support while maintaining regular communication with parents and relevant staff where necessary.
• Actively participate in assigned school committees and contribute to the planning, coordination and implementation of school programmes, events and initiatives.

Experiential Learning Department Projects

• Collaborate with the Experiential Learning department to contribute to various projects, events, and initiatives.
• Integrate physical education components into Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) projects, fostering a holistic approach to student development.
• Actively participate in planning, organizing, and executing events that promote creativity, activity, and service within the school community.

Equipment Management

• Maintain an organized inventory of PE equipment, ensuring all items are in good condition and readily available for use.
• Conduct regular checks on equipment, arranging for repairs or replacements as needed.
• Develop and implement a system for tracking the usage of PE equipment by students and staff.

Curriculum Development

• Design and implement a comprehensive physical education curriculum that aligns with educational standards and promotes healthy living.
• Integrate innovative teaching methods to engage students and enhance their physical fitness, motor skills and overall well-being.

Student Engagement

• Foster a positive and motivating learning environment that encourages student participation and enthusiasm for physical education.
• Provide additional support and guidance to students who may require extra attention in physical activities.

Requirements

• At least a degree in Physical Education from an established University and possess teacher training qualifications, e.g. Post-graduate Diploma in Education.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in teaching PE and overseeing CCA.
• Be willing to teach all levels from secondary to pre-tertiary.
• Knowledgeable in basic first aid is preferred.
• Committed to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among students.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
