Job summary

The SKILT Centre – SpecialKids Intervention, Learning and Therapy Centre in Singapore invites a Speech-Language Pathologist to assess and treat children with speech and language disorders, including autism and other needs. You will design and implement individual and group therapy plans and collaborate with staff and families to optimize outcomes.

Requirements include a AHPC-recognised degree, 3+ years of experience, and strong communication and reporting skills.

Qualifications

• AHPC-recognised Bachelor Degree in Speech & Language Pathology/Speech Therapy.
• Minimum 3 years’ SLT experience or prior work in a special education setting.
• Experience working with children with special needs across diverse disabilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a fast-paced team.
• Strong written and verbal communication, report writing.
• Good organizational skills and collaboration with families and staff.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess therapy needs using appropriate tools and forms.
• Develop tools for identification, assessment, intervention.
• Formulate and implement individual/group therapy programmes for speech and language disorders.
• Provide one-to-one, group, or classroom-based intervention as required.
• Regularly document progress and assess intervention effectiveness.
• Update clients’ status to staff and caregivers as needed.
• Collaborate with teaching and family staff to enhance services.
• Prepare written reports and case notes with recommendations.

Job description

The SKILT Centre – the SpecialKids Intervention, Learning and Therapy Centre established in collaboration with SpecialKids Child Health & Development Clinic, provides a holistic series of programmes that target individuals aged 2 and upwards, through teenage years.

Role & Responsibilities

• Identify and assess individual therapy needs of clients using appropriate assessment tools and assessment forms.
• Facilitate development of appropriate and effective tools for identification, assessment, intervention.
• Formulate and implement individual/group therapy programmes for clients with speech and language disorder, social communication difficulties, dyslexia, autism, ADHD, etc.
• Provide intervention for clients on a one-to-one basis, group, class, work experience or special setting based on the needs of the students.
• Evaluate and document clients' therapy needs and progress regularly, and review the effectiveness of the intervention.
• Provide consultation and update clients’ status to relevant staff members and caregivers.
• Work in collaboration with teaching/non-teaching staff and family/caregivers for the effective enhancement of services.
• Provide written report, case notes about the assessments that have been undertaken and possible speech and language therapy recommendations.

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Speech & Language Pathology/Speech Therapy recognised by the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC), Singapore
• Minimum 3 years’ speech language pathology experience or prior working experience in a special education setting will be an added advantage
• Knowledge and experience in working with children with special needs and a wide range of disabilities.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member in a fast-paced work environment
• Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
