Job summary

The SKILT Centre - the SpecialKids Intervention, Learning and Therapy Centre, in Singapore, seeks a qualified Speech-Language Pathologist to assess, plan and deliver tailored therapy programmes for children and youths with speech and language needs. You will work closely with staff and families to support communication development.

Applicants should hold an AHPC-recognised degree, have 3+ years of experience, and demonstrate strong collaboration and reporting skills in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Speech & Language Pathology recognised by AHPC (Singapore).
• Minimum 3 years' speech language pathology experience or relevant experience in special education.
• Experience with children with special needs and various disabilities.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good report writing.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess individual therapy needs using appropriate tools and forms.
• Develop and implement individual/group therapy programmes for speech and language disorders.
• Provide one-to-one or small group intervention as required.
• Regularly evaluate progress and document therapy needs and outcomes.
• Update staff and caregivers on client status and progress.
• Collaborate with teaching staff and families to enhance services.
• Prepare written reports and case notes with recommendations.

Job description

The SKILT Centre - the SpecialKids Intervention, Learning and Therapy Centre established in collaboration with SpecialKids Child Health & Development Clinic, provides a holistic series of programmes that target individuals aged 2 and upwards, through teenage years.

Role & Responsibilities

• Identify and assess individual therapy needs of clients using appropriate assessment tools and assessment forms.
• Facilitate development of appropriate and effective tools for identification, assessment, intervention.
• Formulate and implement individual/group therapy programmes for clients with speech and language disorder, social communication difficulties, dyslexia, autism, ADHD, etc.
• Provide intervention for clients on a one-to-one basis, group, class, work experience or special setting based on the needs of the students.
• Evaluate and document clients' therapy needs and progress regularly, and review the effectiveness of the intervention.
• Provide consultation and update clients' status to relevant staff members and caregivers.
• Work in collaboration with teaching/non-teaching staff and family/caregivers for the effective enhancement of services.
• Provide written report, case notes about the assessments that have been undertaken and possible speech and language therapy recommendations.

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Speech & Language Pathology/Speech Therapy recognised by the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC), Singapore
• Minimum 3 years' speech language pathology experience or prior working experience in a special education setting will be an added advantage
• Knowledge and experience in working with children with special needs and a wide range of disabilities.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member in a fast-paced work environment
• Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
