Job summary

ST ANDREW'S MISSION HOSPITAL is recruiting a Senior Speech-Language Therapist to deliver clinical speech therapy in a school setting at 11 Bukit Batok Street 25. You will lead assessments, plan individualised interventions and collaborate with students, families and the school team.

This role requires at least 5 years of relevant experience, AHPC registration, and strong communication skills to support therapy within special education and related programmes.

Qualifications

• Must hold degree/postgraduate degree in Speech-Language Therapy / Pathology.
• Senior Therapist: minimum 5 years of relevant working experience.
• Valid AHPC registration.
• Prior experience in special education or with individuals with special needs is a plus.
• Strong teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Utilize formal and informal assessments to identify speech therapy needs.
• Identify goals for intervention and implement individualised plans with students, families and school team.
• Provide evidence-based intervention via consultation, individual and/or group sessions.
• Conduct continuous evaluation to measure outcomes of therapeutic interventions.
• Maintain accurate documentation of assessment, intervention, and communication with families.
• Participate in developing protocols and clinical guidelines to improve services with Head of Student Support/Principal.
• Participate in curriculum/programme development projects in speech, language, and social emotional learning.
• Participate in team assessment for school admissions.
• Utilize assessment tools to support access arrangements for National Exams, if required.
• Conduct parent workshops and in-house training programs for stakeholders.
• Provide supervision and mentorship to new/junior therapists.
• Stay current with best practices in speech therapy and autism.
• Engage in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
• Remain up to date with organizational processes, policies and codes of conduct.
• Participate in curriculum/programme development projects.

Working Location: 11 Bukit Batok Street 25

Working Hours: Monday to Friday - 7 am to 4 pm

Job Responsibilities

Clinical services:

• Utilize formal and informal assessments to identify speech therapy needs
• Identify goals for intervention and implement individualised intervention plans in collaboration with the student, families and the school team.
• Provide evidence-based intervention via consultation, individual and/or group sessions.
• Conduct continuous evaluation to measure outcomes of therapeutic interventions.
• Maintain accurate documentation of assessment, intervention, and communication with families.
• Participate in developing protocols and clinical guidelines to improve services in conjunction with the Head of Student Support/Principal.
• Participate in curriculum / programme development projects, particularly in the areas of speech, language, and social emotional learning.

• Utilize appropriate assessment tools to support and recommend access arrangements for National Exams, if required.

Coaching & Training

• Conduct parent workshops and in-house training programs for internal and external stakeholders
• Provide supervision and mentorship support to new / junior therapists.

Continuing Professional Development

• Stay current with the best practices in relation to the field of speech therapy and evidence-based practices in relation to autism.
• Participate and engage in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

Job Holder Requirements and Attributes

• Possess at least a degree / postgraduate degree in Speech-Language Therapy / Pathology from an institution recognised by the Allied Health Professional Council, Singapore (AHPC).
• Applicants for Senior Therapist position should possess at least 5 years of relevant working experience.
• Valid practising certification with full AHPC registration.
• Prior experience working in the field of special education and/or working with individuals with special needs is an added advantage.
• Good team player with strong communication, interpersonal skills and critical thinking, in order to effectively collaborate and provide person-centric services.
• Able to work independently and effectively.
