Job summary

Salling Search in Singapore is seeking a seasoned Operations Manager to lead vessel operations for a global heavy lift and project cargo fleet from our Singapore office. You will coordinate voyages, plan port calls, manage lift plans with engineering teams, and mentor the operations unit while ensuring safety, cost control and compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree in maritime field or seagoing background.
• 8+ years of shipping operations experience.
• 3+ years in a managerial or team lead role.
• Experience in heavy lift, project cargo, breakbulk or multipurpose operations.
• Strong knowledge of charter parties, laytime and demurrage.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of heavy lift fleet from fixture to discharge.
• Plan voyages, port calls, bunkering and cargo operations for efficiency.
• Coordinate lift plans, stowage, lashing and securing with engineers.
• Appoint and manage port agents, stevedores, surveyors and other providers.
• Act as main operational contact for charterers, cargo owners and EPC contractors.
• Monitor voyage results and control costs against budget.
• Handle laytime, demurrage and despatch calculations.
• Ensure compliance with charter party terms and regulations.
• Lead and develop the operations team in Singapore.
• Coordinate with group offices to align processes.

Job description

Salling Search is currently recruiting for an Operations Manager for a global heavy lift and project cargo shipping company. This is a senior role leading vessel operations for a specialised fleet from the Singapore office. You will work closely with chartering, technical and commercial teams across the group's international offices.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of the heavy lift and multipurpose fleet, from fixture through to final discharge
• Plan and coordinate voyages, port calls, bunkering and cargo operations to ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective performance
• Work with engineering and cargo superintendents on lift plans, stowage, lashing and securing for project and breakbulk cargoes
• Appoint and manage port agents, stevedores, surveyors and other third-party service providers
• Act as the main operational contact for charterers, cargo owners and EPC contractors, and keep them updated on voyage progress
• Monitor voyage results, prepare voyage estimates and control port and operating costs against budget
• Handle laytime, demurrage and despatch calculations and support the resolution of operational claims
• Ensure compliance with charter party terms, international regulations and company HSEQ procedures
• Lead, mentor and develop the operations team in Singapore
• Coordinate with the group's other offices to align operational processes and share fleet resources

Requirements

• Degree in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science, Logistics or a related field, or a seagoing background as a Master or Chief Officer
• At least 8 years of shipping operations experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial or team lead role
• Experience in heavy lift, project cargo, breakbulk or multipurpose vessel operations
• Good knowledge of charter parties, laytime and demurrage, and voyage cost control
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle time-critical operations
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Willing to travel and to be contactable outside office hours when operations require it
