We are seeking an Operations Director (APAC) to join our team. This role is responsible for leading and overseeing regional operational and project delivery activity across data centre projects, working closely with the Executive Vice President (APAC) to deliver operational excellence, customer satisfaction, profitability and sustainable business growth.
The role provides strategic and hands-on leadership across project operations, manpower planning, subcontractor management, logistics, materials, HSE, quality, commercial control and customer interface, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. The Operations Director will ensure the APAC operational organisation is appropriately structured, resourced and managed to support current project commitments and future growth, while continuously improving processes, developing high-performing teams and strengthening client relationships.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operational delivery of assigned data centre projects across the APAC region.
- Establish and implement delivery strategies that support business objectives and sustainable growth in collaboration with the Executive Vice President.
- Provide leadership, direction, mentoring and support to regional project delivery teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and operational excellence.
- Build, develop and retain a high-performing operations team through succession planning, performance management and leadership development.
- Ensure each project has the appropriate labour, materials, equipment and resources required to meet programme and delivery objectives.
- Coordinate activities between project management, engineering, procurement, logistics, HSE and site teams to ensure efficient project execution.
- Oversee the successful delivery of projects from bid stage through to completion and handover, ensuring contractual, programme, quality and customer requirements are achieved.
- Monitor operational and project performance against agreed KPIs, budgets and delivery milestones, implementing corrective actions where required.
- Ensure effective project controls including planning, budgeting, forecasting, change management, resource utilisation and cost control.
- Drive consistency, standardisation and continuous improvement of delivery processes, systems and operational practices across the region.
- Champion a proactive Health, Safety and Wellbeing culture, ensuring compliance with local legislation, client requirements, company policies and ISO management systems.
- Ensure governance, quality, environmental, information security and compliance requirements are embedded throughout project lifecycles.
- Work closely with HSE teams to support audits, inspections, incident investigations and the implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
- Manage the planning, procurement and availability of materials, tools, plant and equipment to ensure delivery programmes are maintained.
- Maintain effective control of operational assets and resources, optimising utilisation whilst minimising waste, damage and unnecessary expenditure.
- Manage subcontractor performance across all projects, ensuring compliance with programme, quality, health & safety, manpower and contractual requirements.
- Maintain overall accountability for project financial and commercial performance, including profitability, forecasting, contractual obligations, risk management and cash performance.
- Drive cost efficiency through effective management of manpower, productivity, variations, additional works and operational expenditure.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders, acting as the primary operational escalation point for delivery-related matters.
- Ensure risks and significant issues are identified, managed and escalated appropriately to protect business performance, reputation and client relationships.
- Represent the business, upholding our core values and behaviours with all internal and external customers, clients and third parties.
- Maintain business and client confidentiality, adhering to applicable Data Protection regulations and Information Security Standards in line with company, and group policies and procedures.
