Job summary

Ministry of Education in Singapore seeks an Officer/Senior Officer, International Relations to support MOE and broader government efforts in strengthening Singapore's education relations with other countries and profiling Singapore's education globally.

You will review strategies, collaborate across agencies, plan international visits, and assess proposals for collaboration. A strong analytical, writing, and interpersonal skillset with willingness to travel is essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Review and implement strategies to engage other countries in education to advance MOE’s international agenda.
• Collaborate with MOE divisions, agencies and institutions on bilateral/multilateral cooperation and export of educational services.
• Maintain strategic briefs on foreign education systems.
• Plan and execute visits of MOE leaders overseas and host foreign delegations.
• Evaluate collaboration proposals and advise senior officials at meetings with foreign counterparts.

Job description

What the role is:

As an Officer/ Senior Officer, International Relations in the Planning Division, you will be part of a dynamic team to support MOE and the wider whole-of-government efforts to strengthen Singapore's education relations with other countries as well as profile Singapore's brand of education globally.

What you will be working on:

• Review and implement strategies to engage other countries in education, with a view to advancing national interests and MOE’s international agenda
• Work with relevant agencies, MOE divisions and educational institutions on matters relating to bilateral/ multilateral educational cooperation, expand educational opportunities for students and teachers, profile Singapore's education internationally and facilitate the export of educational services
• Maintain a strategic overview and background briefs on foreign education systems
• Plan and execute visit programmes involving MOE’s political heads and senior officials overseas, participate in international forums, as well as host visits of foreign dignitaries to Singapore
• Evaluate proposals for collaboration by other countries and recommend positions for our political heads and senior officials at meetings with foreign counterparts

What we are looking for:

• Interest/ passion to strengthen Singapore’s educational relations and curiosity to explore new ideas
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, writing and communication skills, with an eye for detail
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with cultural sensitivity and confidence to respond well to a fast-paced environment
• Prior working experience in the field of foreign affairs or international relations and/ or Chinese language proficiency will be an advantage
• Highly motivated individual with willingness to take initiative
• Prepared to travel abroad
