• Sustainability Strategy: advance our strategy and policy towards net zero, nature positive, and inclusive growth and drive institutional and community-related sustainability initiatives
• Sustainable Solutions: drive decarbonisation in portfolio companies and unlock new investment opportunities in Sustainable Living trends by identifying emerging thematics and catalysing innovative solutions
• ESG Investment Management (ESG IM): advance ESG integration across our investment process including portfolio engagement to help strengthen long-term portfolio resiliency and value creation
• Ecosperity: accelerate systems-change by harnessing our Ecosperity platform to drive year-round engagements, thought leadership, and advocacy

ESG Investment Management

ESG Investment Management partners closely with our global investment teams and portfolio companies to advance ESG practices and sustainable outcomes, directly contributing to Temasek’s efforts in building a resilient and forward-looking portfolio. This involves:

• In-depth pre-investment due diligence of investment targetsto manageESGrisksandidentifyopportunitiesforsustainabilityleadership
• Driving climate transition strategy and progress towards our portfolio 2030 and 2050emissions reductiongoals
• Post-investment engagement with portfolio companies to drive value creation, byprovidingstrategic guidance, reviewingtargetsandfacilitatingknowledge exchange
• Developing thematic and sectoral frameworks as part ofinstitutional capability building
• Leveraging ESG data and analytics for portfolio assessment andmonitoringto improveresiliency

Responsibilities

• Performin-depthESG researchtosupport(1)ESG duediligence on new investmenttargets,(2)the development / enhancement of internal frameworksand (3) the building ofinstitutionalknowledge on the evolving ESG landscape
• Evaluate portfolio companies' sustainability performance by assessing their overall ESG maturity, climate transition readiness, practices on other material topics, and exploring opportunities for ESG value creation
• Contribute to Temasek's climate leadership by analysing carbon emissions performance and trends for Temasek and our portfolio
• Support the development and maintenance of critical dashboards and tools
• Provide flexible support on emerging priorities and ad-hoc projects as needed

Requirements

• Able to commit full-time for a minimum of 20 weeks. Interns who are able to commit to a full-time (5 days/week) or a minimum of part-time (4 days/week) internship is strongly preferred.
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree
• Prior experience in ESG and sustainability is preferred but not a must
• Passionate about ESG and sustainability with a strong willingness to learn
• Excellent analytical, data, and communication skills
• Ability to navigate and coordinate across diverse stakeholders, with strong people skills
• Demonstrate understanding of the linkages between ESG and a company’s business model and operations.
