Job summary

APSN is seeking an Occupational Therapist to assess and develop customised therapy programs for students and trainees with special needs in Singapore.

You will carry out assessments, plan interventions for motor and processing skills, monitor progress, and document reports while collaborating with caregivers and education staff.

The role also involves vocational profiling, work-site assessments, and supervising OT students with a patient, collaborative approach to youth development.

Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent (recognised by AHP)
• 2+ years clinical experience preferred; entry level welcome
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to work with young people with special needs and caregivers
• Ability to work with minimum supervision

Responsibilities

• Carry out assessments of students' occupational needs and document reports
• Formulate and facilitate interventions for motor and processing skills
• Evaluate therapy progress using selected outcome measures at regular intervals
• Conduct Vocational Profiling Assessment to match skills to tracks
• Organise Community Partner Workshops to educate employers about ASD and MID
• Plan and facilitate group therapy programs
• Conduct work site assessments to determine placement suitability
• Support OST and WEP through site visits for students
• Provide supervision of OTA/OT student interns or conditional registered OTs
• Digitize OT reports and maintain clinical documentation

Job description

You shall be responsible for assessing and identifying individual needs of students &/or trainees with occupational therapy issues and concerns. You will also formulate, develop and customise appropriate occupational therapy programs for the students &/or trainees.

Job Description:

• Carry out assessments in relation to occupational needs of the students and document reports
• Formulate and facilitate intervention for students in the area of motor and processing skills
• Evaluate therapy progress and outcomes with the use of selected therapy outcome measures at regular intervals (every 6 months).
• Conduct Vocational Profiling Assessment for students to match their skills and interests to the appropriate vocational track
• Conduct Community Partner Workshops such as Employers Education to create awareness for employers who are working and supporting persons with ASD and Mild Intellectual Disability (MID)
• Planning and facilitate group programs
• Conduct work site assessment to determine suitability for placement of students
• Conduct work place site visits to support students on OST (On-Site Training) and WEP (Work Experience Program)
• Provide Supervision and mentorship of OTA /OT Student Intern/ Conditional Registered OT
• Administrative Duties:
• Digitization of OT reports
• Documentation of clinical duties

Job Requirements:

• Degree in Occupational Therapy or its equivalent (preferably recognised by the Allied Health Professional Council)
• Preferred at least 2 years clinical experience. However, Entry Level Candidates are welcomed to apply.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment and motivation to work with young person with special needs and their caregivers.
• Good team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Relevant work experience with children and young adults with intellectual disability would be an advantage
• Ability to work with minimum supervision
