Job summary

St Luke's Hospital in Singapore invites an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our clinical team and lead OT practice across general and specialised caseloads. You will conduct assessments of patients’ performance, set patient-centred goals, deliver and adjust interventions, supervise juniors and students, and ensure accurate documentation and communication with the care team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Diploma in OT from an accredited institution.
  • Full AHPC registration with Practising Certificate.
  • Strong clinical reasoning and independent caseload management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to supervise therapy staff and contribute to education.
  • Proactive, organized, adaptable and committed to evidence-based practice.
  • Senior-level experience in complex case management and audits.

Responsibilities

Job description

Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Practice
  • Conduct occupational therapy assessments of patients' occupational performance, functional abilities and environments, and formulate patient-centred goals and evidence-based intervention plans.
  • Deliver, review and modify interventions for general and/or specialised caseloads, using appropriate outcome measures to monitor progress. For the senior appointment, independently manage complex cases and guide other therapists where required.
  • Recommend assistive devices, equipment and environmental modifications, and educate patients and caregivers on safe use, self-management and strategies that promote function and independence.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, and communicate assessment findings, goals, progress and discharge plans to patients, caregivers and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Coordinate continuity of care, discharge planning and community reintegration, and contribute occupational therapy perspectives at case conferences, team meetings and family meetings.
  • Uphold patient safety, infection control, professional and ethical practice, and service standards; identify clinical risks and respond to and report incidents in accordance with hospital policies.
Supervision, Training & Team Development
  • Supervise and coach therapy assistants, students and junior or less-experienced Occupational Therapists, within the scope of the appointment.
  • Provide clinical guidance, consultation and peer review, and support staff in managing clinical issues and developing their competencies.
  • Support induction, clinical orientation, competency assessment, in-service education and individual staff development plans.
  • For the senior appointment, contribute to staff appraisal and development, review clinical competency standards and help strengthen team capability.
Service Operations, Quality & Development
  • Support or coordinate caseload allocation and work coverage, as appropriate to the appointment, to ensure continuity of patient care and effective manpower utilisation.
  • Participate in clinical, safety and quality audits; follow up on findings and implement improvements in service quality, efficiency and workplace safety.
  • Contribute to evidence-based clinical guidelines, protocols, quality improvement, research and service development projects.
  • Support incident reviews, stakeholder feedback management, team performance monitoring and implementation of service standards, as appropriate to the appointment.
  • Assist with the procurement, allocation, maintenance and inventory management of rehabilitation equipment.
  • Participate in departmental and organisational initiatives, and perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Full registration with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) and a valid Practising Certificate.
  • Sound clinical reasoning and the ability to manage an assigned caseload independently, with strong clinical documentation and safety practices.
  • Good communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines and with patients and caregivers.
  • Ability and willingness to supervise therapy assistants, students or junior team members, as appropriate to the appointment, and to contribute to clinical education, quality improvement and service development.
  • Proactive, organised, adaptable and committed to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.
  • Candidates considered for appointment as Senior Occupational Therapist should have relevant clinical experience and demonstrated competency in complex case management, clinical supervision, audits or quality improvement, service development, and team or caseload coordination.
