Job Description
The Nursing Aide (NA) also known as ICS Officers provides interim in-house care upon discharge before the permanent care arrangements made for clients are in place. They are equipped with basic skills to take care of the personal care and personal hygiene needs of the clients, such as assistance in feeding, and transferring of clients.
You will need to:
Client Care
- Assist patient in personal hygiene including bathing for clients who are ill, bedridden, or unable to bathe in a bathroom.
- Assist in changing clothes, undergarments, continence aids and soiled sheets.
- Assist with brushing teeth and cleaning dentures.
- Assist with toileting and other elimination needs.
- Incontinence and ambulation care.
- Lift and reposition bed-bound patients every 2 hours and conduct elimination rounds for non-ambulant patients.
- Perform simple wound dressing and bandaging (dry wounds).
- Feeding and assisting with oral and/or nasogastric tube feeding.
- Assist in administration of medications and medication reminders.
- Provide companionship and recreational activities; provide mentally stimulating activities.
- Perform simple physical maintenance exercises.
- Escort clients for medical appointments.
- Attend to client needs and relay requests to caregivers or Care Coordinators in charge.
- Monitor and record vital signs; report any abnormalities.
- Identify and rectify basic home hazards to prevent falls or slips (e.g., wet floors, untidy walkways).
- Ensure elderly’s passageways are dry and clean by sweeping and mopping.
- Ensure kitchen stove and table are clean after cooking by Nursing Aides.
- Assist with washing plates and pots after meals if cooking is done by Nursing Aides.
- Assist with washing the elderly’s clothes and hang dry indoors, if washing facilities are available.
Infection Control
- Exercise standard precautions and hand hygiene when in contact with patients and their environment.
- Educate patients and relatives on infection control practices.
Other Responsibilities
- Assist ICS Care Coordinator in handling enquiries and feedback from referral sources and clients from home care services. Liaise and work closely with care team members, family members, and external partners involved in client care needs.
- Perform other care duties as assigned by the Operations Manager/Nurse Manager.
Qualifications

- Good listening skills, personable and detail-oriented, with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
Locally Trained Candidates
- Have a GCE N Levels certificate or completion of training in one of the following:
- WSQ Higher Certificate or Advanced Certificate in Healthcare Support (Nursing Care).
- Institute of Technical Education (ITE)–approved Training Centre (ATC) Healthcare (Home Care) programme.
Foreign-Trained Candidates
- Hold a nursing degree from your home country; and
- Possesses a valid practising license in your home country.
