Job summary

The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Assistant in the Nishiyama lab, focusing on neuropsychiatric disorders. Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Biological Science, Neuroscience, Bioinformatics or a related field with minimum 1 year of research experience.
• Hands-on experience in either RNA-seq and/or single-cell RNA-seq data analysis in R and/or Python (Linux/HPC).
• Or independently designing and conducting rodent behavioural experiments.
• Willingness to support molecular and cell biology experiments, animal-related research activities and laboratory administration.

Responsibilities

• Bioinformatics analysis: process bulk RNA-seq data from raw reads to differential expression and splicing.
• Single-cell RNA-seq analysis: clustering, annotation and differential expression.
• Integrate with human data using reproducible workflows and HPC.
• Mouse behavioural experiments: run test batteries and analyze outcomes.
• Lab operations: purchasing, inventory, protocols, documentation.
• Animal work: colony maintenance, breeding, genotyping; ensure ethical compliance.
• Wet-lab tasks: PCR, cloning, Western blotting, cell culture; report results.
