Job summary

ALPHAEUS PTE. LTD. is seeking a Network Security Engineer to execute operational tasks across a suite of security tools, including firewalls, IPS, proxies, and WAF. You will monitor performance, maintain solutions, and diagnose complex network issues while preparing detailed reports to inform risk decisions.

The role supports post-incident and after-hours troubleshooting, with a focus on strengthening the organization’s security posture through thorough analysis and data-driven insights.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs and routing/switching concepts.
• Basic to advanced understanding of WAF violations and HTTP status semantics.
• Experience with security appliances from Palo Alto, Check Point, Trend Micro, Fortinet and F5.
• Knowledge of NPM and SIEM tools and their role in security monitoring.
• CCNA/CCNP certifications are a plus.

Job description

As a Network Security Engineer, you will be responsible for executing critical operational tasks across a comprehensive suite of network security solutions, encompassing but not limited to, network firewalls, intrusion prevention systems (IPS), proxies, and web application firewalls(WAF). Your core responsibilities will include monitoring system performance, maintaining security solutions to optimal standards, and employing advanced diagnostic tools to troubleshoot complex network issues. You will play a crucial role in analyzing and providing detailed insights on WAF violations, contributing to the organization's security posture. The position requires flexibility for post office-hours activation to provide essential support and troubleshooting services. Additionally, you will be tasked with conducting thorough data tabulation and generating comprehensive reports to support decision-making processes and security assessments.

As a Network Security Engineer, you will need to:

a) Possess knowledge on networking protocols and technologies like TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, and routing/switching.

b) Possess fundamental application security knowledge like interpretation of HTTP response status codes and WAF violations. Higher proficiency in application security knowledge to advice on remediation measures is an added advantage, but not mandatory.

c) Be proficient with network equipment from vendors like Palo Alto, Check Point, Trend Micro, Fortinet and F5.

d) Experience in solutions that supports the primary job tasks, like Network Performance Monitoring (NPM) and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM).

e) Understanding of network security best practices and tools.

f) Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure. Willingness to learn.

g) Fundamental skills on Microsoft Office products like Word and Excel.

h) Additional certifications like CCNA, CCNP or product (with reference to products listed above) certifications are a plus.
