Job summary

Nanyang Technological University Singapore is seeking a Project Officer to support machine learning-driven nanoparticle-based nanosensing research. The role focuses on designing receptor-functionalized nanoparticles, collecting and analyzing spectroscopic data, and developing ML frameworks for receptor optimization.

The ideal candidate has a 3+ year track record in nanomaterial synthesis, SERS, and computational methods, with strong communication in an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, materials science, or a related discipline.
• Min 3 years of relevant research experience in nanomaterial synthesis, characterization, surface functionalization, and/or applications in molecular sensing.
• Experience with spectroscopic techniques, particularly surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy, including analysis/interpretation of data.
• Familiarity with computational approaches for molecular interactions (DFT).
• Familiarity with machine learning approaches applied to spectroscopic datasets.
• Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and functionalize nanoparticles with receptors for array-based nanosensing.
• Perform spectroscopic measurements, including SERS, to study interactions.
• Create a spectroscopic database across receptor–analyte pairs.
• Process, analyze, and interpret spectroscopic data.
• Explore receptor–analyte interactions with in silico calculations (DFT).
• Apply ML to evaluate and optimize receptor combos for tasks.
• Assist PI with preparing research papers and outputs.
