Job summary

AI Singapore (AISG) seeks an AI Engineer to develop, train and evaluate multilingual, multicultural and multimodal foundation LLMs. The role is hosted at NTU under the Office of the VP for Artificial Intelligence & Digital Economy.

You will build scalable data pipelines, support distributed model training and translate research into deployable AI solutions, collaborating with internal teams and external partners.

Qualifications

• Strong AI/ML engineering capability with Python, Git, tests and docs.
• Hands-on experience with PyTorch and the Hugging Face NLP/LLM stack (Transformers, Datasets, Tokenizers).
• Experience with LLM pre-training, continued pre-training and fine-tuning.
• Ability to build scalable data pipelines for multilingual text.
• Familiarity with distributed training, GPU-based training and compute optimization.
• MLOps, Docker, CI/CD and deployment via APIs or serving frameworks.
• Ability to read research papers, design experiments and communicate results clearly.
• Self-directed, collaborative and reproducible research mindset.

Responsibilities

• Develop, train, fine-tune and evaluate multilingual LLMs and related technologies.
• Build scalable data pipelines for multilingual text ingestion and cleaning.
• Support large-scale distributed model training workflows and experiment tracking.
• Review frontier AI research papers and translate findings into practical improvements.
• Contribute reusable engineering assets: scripts, tools, APIs and deployment components.
• Collaborate with researchers, industry partners and ecosystem stakeholders.
