Job summary

ByteDance is seeking a research-focused engineer for TikTok Local Service Search in Singapore. You will work on POI search, video ranking, and agentic search experiences using LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, and multimodal data to guide users to places, services, and content.

You will leverage NLP, information retrieval, and personalization modeling to improve search relevance, while implementing scalable ML solutions in a fast-growing tech environment.

Qualifications

• Solid foundation in machine learning and deep learning with hands-on experience in NLP/IR/personalization or LLM applications.
• Strong coding skills and grasp of data structures and algorithms; familiar with Linux development environments; ability to develop and run experiments in C++ and Python.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to derive solutions from data and user needs and validate them offline and online.

Responsibilities

• Own query understanding, content understanding, relevance, and POI retrieval and ranking for local services and POI results.
• Develop and improve video ranking, personalization, and objective alignment for clicks, content consumption, and conversions.
• Build agentic search experiences using LLMs, RAG, and multimodal data to organize evidence-based answers.
• Contribute to model training, evaluation, and rollout of search products.
