Job summary

Khoo Teck Puat Hospital invites applications for a cardiology laboratory technician to perform routine cardiovascular tests, including echocardiography, stress testing, and ambulatory monitoring. The role involves calibration of equipment, participating in audits, and ensuring patient safety and regulatory compliance.

The candidate will support continuous improvement initiatives, maintain supplies, and assist with special projects within the Cardiology department.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cardiovascular tests including transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, treadmill ECG and imaging stress tests, cardiac ambulatory monitoring, and hemodynamic monitoring during interventional cardiology procedures.
• Monitor turnaround times for cardiac tests and appointment waiting times; track patient information and KPI metrics for effective work planning.
• Maintain and calibrate equipment to ensure accurate testing and diagnosis; troubleshoot errors or discrepancies.
• Ensure the emergency trolley (crash cart) is properly maintained and ready for use.
• Assist with and participate in audits to ensure cardiac test equipment and devices comply with regulatory and safety requirements.
• Undertake special projects as assigned; maintain adequate inventory levels of unit supplies and materials.
• Uphold patient rights and always ensure patient safety.
• Promote safety and participate in work improvement projects; keep the centre clean, adherent to infection control standards.
• Actively participate in the Hospital’s Quality Improvement programs and community initiatives.

Job description

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(A) SPECIFIC (95%)

• 1. Perform routine cardiovascular tests, including Transthoracic and Transesophageal
  Echocardiography, treadmill ECG and imaging stress tests, Cardiac Ambulatory
  Monitoring, and hemodynamic monitoring during interventional cardiology
  procedures.
• 2. Monitor turnaround times for cardiac tests and appointment waiting times, while
  tracking patient information and key operational metrics such as revenue, audits, and
  KPIs, to facilitate effective work planning.
• 3. Maintain and calibrate equipment to ensure accurate testing and diagnosis, and
  troubleshoot any errors or discrepancies that arise.
• 4. Ensure the emergency trolley (crash cart) in the centre is properly maintained and
  ready for use.
• 5. Assist with and participate in audit processes to ensure that all cardiac test
  equipment and devices comply with regulatory and safety requirements.
• 6. Undertake special projects as assigned.
• 7. Maintain adequate inventory levels of the unit’s supplies and materials.
• 8. Uphold patient rights and always ensure patient safety.
