Job summary

Qualifications

  • Master/PhD in Medical Physics / MRI / Electrical Engineering / Biomedical Engineering.
  • At least 2–3 years of relevant working experience in the clinical healthcare or research environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in clinical research studies including grant-funded and industry trials conducted on site.
  • Coordinates study initiations and assists with planning and documentation for the research protocol.
  • Administers clinical studies and assists/advises in collection of MRI data for reproducibility.
  • Evaluates, analyzes and interprets collected data with investigators.
  • Resolves MRI artifacts with radiographers/radiologists and service engineers to reduce data impact.
  • Assists remedial actions to address artifacts/data affected by technical issues.
  • Prepares reports and analyses showing progress, trends and recommendations.
  • Reviews journals and literature to stay updated on MRI developments.
  • Participates in training, courses and research conferences to update MRI knowledge.
  • Provides support to radiologists in evaluation and implementation of novel sequences and applications for clinical MRI services.
  • Assists and works with radiologists, radiographers and application specialists to enhance image quality and finalize protocols.
  • Provides assistance in MRI safety of services.
  • Assists on safety measures and control implementation for MRI facilities.
  • Assists investigations of MRI-related incidents.
  • Advises on safety measures of MRI equipment/accessories.
  • Provides procurement support for MRI equipment and submissions.
  • Participates in commissioning of new MRI equipment.
  • Provides MRI education to healthcare professionals, residents and staff.

Job description

Provides research and scientific support in MRI
  • Participates in clinical research studies conducted by the investigator(s) that includes grant-funded research and/or industry sponsored clinical trials and/or quality improvement projects conducted on site.

  • Co-ordinates study initiations and assists with planning and the documentation for the research protocol.

  • Administers clinical studies and assists/advises in collection of MRI data to ensure reproducibility and reliability of MRI data collection.

  • Evaluates, analyses and interprets the collected clinical data in conjunction with the investigator(s).

  • Attend promptly to investigating reports of artifacts surfaced by radiographers or radiologists in conjunction with MRI team and service engineers to reduce the deleterious impact on research data collection.

  • Seeks and assists in remedial actions to address the artifacts/data affected by technical incompatibilities.

  • Prepares reports, analyses setting forth progress, trends and makes appropriate recommendations or conclusions

  • Reviews journals, abstracts, and scientific literature to keep abreast of new developments in MRI.

  • Participates in training, courses and research conferences to update on ever revolving new MRI developments, applications, and equipment.

Provides support to radiologists in evaluation and implementation of novel sequences and new applications for clinical MRI services
  • Assists and works with radiologists, radiographers and application specialists to enhance the image quality and ensure finalized protocols

Provides assistance in the safety of MRI services
  • Assist on various aspects of MRI safety in the division and the hospital.

  • Implements the control measures to enhance the safety of operating MRI facilities.

  • Assists on investigations of any MRI related accident / incident.

  • Advises on safety measures of any equipment/ accessories to be brought into the MRI environment.

Provides support for MRI equipment procurement
  • Takes part in procurement specifications, submission reviews and evaluations.

  • Participates in commissioning of new MRI equipment.

Provides support in MRI education
  • Contributes effectively to the teaching of MRI physics to healthcare professionals including residents, radiographers and healthcare staff.

  • Contributes effectively to the teaching of radiographers undertaking specialization in MRI.

Job requirements:
  • Master/PhD in Medical Physics / MRI / Electrical Engineering / Biomedical Engineering.

  • At least 2 to 3 years of relevant working experience in the clinical healthcare or research environment.

  • Good interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
