Overview

Reporting to the Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist, the Medical Laboratory Technologist supports the Tissue Repository by performing laboratory, data management, and administrative activities related to biobanking operations and research support.

Job Responsibilities

• Bio-banking Operations (60%): Process blood, cells, and tissue specimens in accordance with SOPs.
• Perform cell isolation and tissue handling procedures.
• Support the storage and distribution of biospecimens.
• Administrative (40%): Maintain accurate laboratory and sample records.
• Perform data entry and consolidation across multiple systems.
• Support procurement, audit, and quality assurance activities.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety regulations and protocols.
• Communicate and elevate operational issues as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Science, Biological Science, Biotechnology, or related discipline.
• Preferably 1–2 years relevant laboratory experience.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic research environment.
• Physically able to handle laboratory equipment and materials of up to 10 kg.
• Good general health and no colour blindness.
