Job summary

GBS (SINGAPORE) PTE. LTD.

is seeking a Mechanical Design & Development engineer to design AMV chassis, frames, and assemblies, and to create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks. You will perform GD&T, BOM, and material specs, run tolerance analyses, support prototype testing, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability and reliability across the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in mechanical design, product development, automation, robotics, vehicle systems, or related industries.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop AMV chassis, frames, mounting structures, enclosures, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks based on engineering requirements and design concepts.
  • Prepare manufacturing drawings, including GD&T, tolerance analysis, Bills of Materials (BOM), and material specifications.
  • Produce fabrication drawings and maintain engineering documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Perform design calculations, tolerance stack-up analysis, and material selection.
  • Ensure designs meet operational, environmental, reliability, and safety requirements.
  • Build and evaluate prototypes for proof-of-concept, validation, and production deployment.
  • Conduct mechanical testing, vibration testing, durability testing, and environmental assessments.
  • Analyse test results and implement design improvements to enhance product performance and reliability.
  • Support prototyping and testing activities by providing accurate technical drawings and resolving design-related issues.
  • Support mechanical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, from concept development to deployment.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, project managers, and cross-functional teams to refine designs and ensure manufacturability.
  • Prepare engineering schedules, technical reports, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, fabricators, and contractors to ensure timely delivery of components and assemblies.
  • Support production teams during fabrication, assembly, integration, and commissioning activities.
  • Develop assembly procedures, work instructions, and quality standards.
  • Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) initiatives.
  • Update and maintain drawing revisions, engineering documentation, and CAD data management systems.
  • Assist in cost optimisation and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Investigate mechanical failures and perform root cause analysis.
  • Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Improve system reliability, maintainability, and operational performance.
  • Demonstrate a hands-on attitude by supporting prototype builds, performing assembly checks, and troubleshooting design issues directly on parts, assemblies, and deployed systems.

Job description

1. Mechanical Design & Development

6. Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and workplace safety requirements.

  • Conduct design reviews, engineering evaluations, and risk assessments.

  • Support product certification, validation activities, and customer acceptance testing where required.

  • Maintain engineering documentation in accordance with company quality procedures.

Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Experience
